After earning a Bachelor of Arts in history with a focus on the Far East from the University of Mary Washington, Ms. Byers began her professional career with Paine Webber, where she served as an operations & branch technology liaison and client service associate. After leaving Paine Webber, Ms. Byers accepted a position with DHL as a global logistics specialist, where she was contracted to GE Advanced Materials to handle ocean exports of synthetic resin and hazardous materials for its international customers and affiliates.
Three years after joining DHL, Ms. Byers transitioned to the University of Georgia as an accountant for the Fiscal Affairs Office of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science and as an administrative manager for the Cooperative Extension Service Business Office. Driven to further her expertise, she obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia in 2008. Upon her graduation, Ms. Byers was active at the University of Georgia as a program coordinator for the Plant Genome Mapping Laboratory at the Center for Applied Genetic Technologies.
Backed by her extensive expertise, Ms. Byers currently excels as the chief financial officer of Centennial Auctions and Scofield Auctions and the president of Alpenglow Fundraising. With Centennial and Scofield, she was appointed as the financial lead, conducting numismatic auctions on a regular basis, researching market value for auctions and appraisals of coins and stamps, operating as a resource for individuals and professionals alike and managing their social media accounts. As the president of Alpenglow, Ms. Byers consults and executes fundraising events, works with clients to tailor solutions to meet their specific needs and strategizes with internal and external stakeholders to improve fundraising processes.
Due to her extensive work with nonprofits and financial expertise Ms. Byers now serves as the elected Treasurer of the National Auctioneers Association, as well as on the board of directors for the Friends of the Ledges and Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition Inc. She helps the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust with their development planning. She is also an elected member of her town, serving as Vice Chair of the Town of Conway Planning Board.
Throughout her career, Ms. Byers has furthered her expertise with several certifications, including graduating from the Certified Auction Institute and certifications in Auction Marketing Management and Benefit Auction Specialist through the National Auctioneers Association. Additionally, she is a licensed auctioneer through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Division of Standards, the New Hampshire Board of Auctioneers, and the Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. She also remains professionally aligned with the National Auctioneers Association, the American Numismatics Association, and American Fundraising Professionals.
