Harboring an innate passion for accounting and finance, Mr. Koirala earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences in business administration from Northern Virginia Community College and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of the District of Columbia. Following these achievements, he served as a federal grant analyst intern for the Government of the District of Columbia before obtaining his first professional role as an assurance associate for Grant Thornton LLP.
In the ensuing years, Mr. Koirala gained valuable expertise in the field as an experienced assurance associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC, senior assurance associate for Ernst & Young LLP, senior auditor for BDO USA LLP and revenue accounting supervisor and senior revenue accountant for Citrix Systems Inc. Drawing on his considerable expertise, he excels today as founder, chairman and chief executive officer with Koirala Capital, LLC. Throughout his career, he has been honored many times for outstanding work, earning the Peter Regis & Associates Scholarship to the UDC School of Business, a Bert Smith & Company Scholarship, the Becker CPA Review Scholarship, the Johnson & Johnson Scholarship and a Leadership Award through the National Association of Black Accountants. He additionally received a Good Citizenship Award for Participating in Junior Achievement through Grant Thornton LLP.
In order to stay abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Koirala is pursuing additional coursework in personal and corporate finance at Harvard University. Outside of his work, he maintains professional alignment with such organizations as the National Association of Black Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, International Health Initiatives, and Safety NET, also known as the Nepal Earthquake Task Force, for which he serves as financial adviser. Despite a career's worth of industry achievements, he is most proud of maintaining his practice and starting a foundation in Nepal through which he supplies food to people and animals in need. The K-Foundation's mission kicked into high gear when COVID-19 lockdowns and prohibitory orders closed hotels and restaurants. Street people and animals suffered the most. The foundation fed as many as 150 dogs and monkeys per day. Koirala intends to build a shelter for the estimated 30,000 to 40,000 stray dogs in the Kathmandu Valley. He also hopes to contribute to the fields of education, financial literacy, and vision care, as well as the needs of underprivileged children.
Looking ahead, Mr. Koirala intends to expand the net worth of his company to become a multi-million dollar investment company.
