H. Linda Rose Honored for Excellence in Nursing

With accrued expertise in geriatric and gerontological nursing, clinical operations, and providing quality care and service for retirement and senior communities, H. Linda Rose, MS, RN, APN, LNHA has excelled as the senior vice president of health services and chief clinical officer at Springpoint Senior Living since 2000. Attributing her decades-long success in the medical field to a sense of deep gratification, Ms. Rose has dedicated her life to bettering the lives of others.

Even from a young age, Ms. Rose found great satisfaction in helping people, beginning with her parents and her sister, who was six years younger than her. However, it wasn't until adulthood that she made the decision to pursue a career in nursing, at which point she went to community college and then ultimately Rutgers University-Newark—where she earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science, both in nursing, in 1987 and 1992, respectively. Equipped with degrees and certifications that allowed her to take care of people properly, she went to work, becoming head nurse, acting director of medical and surgical nursing, and later director of nursing at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and a nurse practitioner in a large continuous care retirement community in Philadelphia. In the midst of her roles, she also advanced her credentials, earning postgraduate certification in health care administration from New York University, attending the Interdisciplinary Core Curriculum in Geriatrics and Gerontology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and becoming a licensed nursing home administrator in New Jersey and later Delaware.

Ms. Rose eventually switched to long-term care after a close friend of hers, who was a high-quality physician, invited her to open a new establishment with them as someone who would set up clinical services. This is when Ms. Rose moved on to Springpoint Senior Living, where she has found much success through her many responsibilities, including clinical operations and regulatory compliance. In addition, she has quality improvement functions and was hired to establish a professional services committee, which mostly features quality of care services. In addition, she has also lent her knowledge as a clinical instructor at Seton Hall University College of Nursing and Villanova University Graduate School of Nursing, and has been a prolific speaker and presenter on nursing and health care for more than 20 years—covering a range of topics such as "Nurse Aide Advancement Program for the Career Minded" and "Quality Improvement in Assisted Living." In recognition of her numerous achievements in the field, she has received many accolades, including the College of Nursing Senate Award for Outstanding and Dedicated Services, Ellen V. Stonsby Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, Howard Osborn Scholarship for Academic Excellence, and a certificate for helping the Institute of Wonderful Women Working for Empowerment from the State of New Jersey Senate and General Assembly. Likewise, she was honored with a Professional of the Year Award from LeadingAge New Jersey & Delaware in 2011, a Salute to the Policy Makers Award from Executive Women of New Jersey in 2014, an Executive Management Award from Smart CEO in 2014, and a Giving Back Stepping Forward Award for her extraordinary service and dedication toward nurturing and training future nurses in 2015. Ms. Rose has been proudest of receiving these honors over the years, as she found it extremely gratifying to be nominated by others.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Rose, now 78, feels that as long as she's can keep doing her job at a high level, she has no reason to think about retirement. Happily married with two children, two stepchildren, and eight grandchildren, she enjoys playing tennis, power walking, going bowling, and ballroom dancing in her spare time.
