Mr. Heely is a renowned Scottish and Irish fiddler who performs and teaches both locally and abroad. Heely plays a beautiful 1912 violin (Freya) made in Germany by an Italian luthier from Cremona. He also plays an early 1900's Gibson mandocello, Celtic harp, and he is a singer specializing in Scottish Gaelic. Heely is currently pursuing a degree in Scottish Gaelic from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Founding his own company in 2017, which combines music teaching, outreach and performance, he owns the Seán Heely Private Teaching Studio in Falls Church, VA, where he offers music lessons to students both in person and online. Mr. Heely is also an adjunct faculty member at American University in Washington, D.C., where he teaches fiddle and classical violin. He has also been invited to teach at notable summer programs such as the Acadia Traditional School of Music and Arts in Maine, the Upper Potomac Fiddle Retreat in WV, and the Fiddle Hell Festival in Massachusetts. He is also a regular guest teacher/performer at local high schools in the D.C area.

During his illustrious career in music, he won a position as an artist-in-residence at the Strathmore Music Center in Maryland in 2019. He was a featured soloist with the Virginia Symphony and the Virginia International Tattoo in Norfolk, VA in 2017 and 2019. In addition to teaching and performing, Heely is a musical ambassador for the British Embassy Scottish Affairs Office and the St. Andrew's Society of Washington.
After receiving a high school diploma with honors from Deep Creek High School in 2011, Mr. Heely studied music performance at George Mason University from 2011 to 2013. He then transferred to the University of South Carolina where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance in 2016. Since graduating, Mr. Heely has become prolifically active in his community and beyond. He enjoys participating as a member of the Scottish Fiddling Revival Ltd., which hosts the U.S National Scottish Fiddle competition. Heely has had two junior fiddle students to win this national award. Heely is also a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and is an active member of the Clan Donald Foundation, a nonprofit organization that focuses on Scottish heritage education and preservation. Heely has two albums "Edge of the Bow" released in 2018 and "Homeport ~ Port na Dachaigh" released in 2021.
Mr. Heely won the U.S National Scottish Fiddle Championships in 2016 and was featured on the cover of Fiddler Magazine in 2018. Heely has performed in Scotland, Ireland, and Germany. In the U.S., Heely has performed at the Kennedy Center. Attributing his success and good fortune to the support of others, Mr. Heely recognizes just how difficult it is to make a name for oneself in the music industry. In the coming years, he aspires to share his music all over the globe.
