Dr. Akinseye became involved in his profession because of the challenges of having limited access to healthcare in his country, Nigeria, as well as his family's background in the field. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the College of Health Sciences at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in 2008. Soon thereafter, Dr. Akinseye completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Queens Hospital Center. In 2016, Dr. Akinseye obtained a Master of Public Health from the City University of New York's Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy at Brooklyn College.
Dr. Akinseye refilled his skills at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where he completed fellowships in general cardiology and interventional cardiology. During this time, he was notably appointed as the chief cardiovascular disease fellow in recognition of his dedication and outstanding performance. Dr. Akinseye currently maintains a clinical practice as an interventional cardiologist at Methodist University Hospital, in Memphis Tennessee.
Though he has had numerous achievements throughout his career, Dr. Akinseye is incredibly proud of having been able to present his research work in national conferences and publish in impactful medical journals. Additionally, Dr. Akinseye has numerous awards, and he is currently a member of the patient safety quality improvement council and the cardiovascular quality steering committee at the Methodist University Hospital. Dr. Akinseye has board certifications in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and cardiovascular computed tomography.
Dr. Akinseye has been an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Nigerian Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He attributes his success to the lessons that he learned from his parents in perseverance, as well as the unwavering support of his wife. In the future, Dr. Akinseye intends to continue to make a difference in people's lives with his work and serve as a mentor to upcoming medical professionals.
