While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Golden takes the most pride in receiving the Railway Age Top 25 Under 40 Award in 2022.
SNELLVILLE, GA, August 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- LaVoy U. Golden has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Inspired by the Vince Lombardi quote, "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavors," Mr. Golden presently excels as the regional operations manager of CSX. Since obtaining this role in 2021, he has ensured the safety and quality of all automotive products, maintained responsibility for budgeting and capital projects, and supervised four terminal managers. Prior to becoming a regional manager, Mr. Golden worked for CSX as an operations manager, trainmaster and conductor. In his myriad roles with the company, he has helped make the company more than $200,000,000 in productive gains and implemented EDVIR, a process that is intended to revolutionize railroad asset management.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Golden gained valuable expertise in the field as a conductor for Genesee & Wyoming, and as an automated logistic specialist with the Georgia Army National Guard, through which he served for six years. In order to remain aware of ongoing industry changes, he aligns himself with Sigma Phi Alpha's Columbia Southern Chapter, Alpha Phi Omega, the Project Management Institute and the African-American Inclusion Group at CSX.
An expert in his field, Mr. Golden completed coursework in communications at Georgia State University, holds a conductor certification through the Federal Railroad Administration, and received an associate degree in business administration and management from Columbia Southern University. Likewise, he is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in project management from his alma mater. In light of his outstanding body of work, he has been recognized many times, earning the 2017 Dale Carnegie Highest Achievement Award and the 2019 Fourth Quarter Professionalism Award through CSX. Additionally, Mr. Golden became a SOAR graduate in 2022.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Golden takes the most pride in receiving the Railway Age Top 25 Under 40 Award in 2022. Looking toward the future, he aims to become the first African-American chief executive officer of a Class One railroad. Ultimately, Mr. Golden intends to sit on several company boards so that he can help influence decisions that will shape the way they do business in the future and allow him to help lead others in the right direction.
