In addition to his work as a CPA and CFP, Mr. Bales taught business courses at the local college, Columbia Gorge University.
YAKIMA, WA, September 15, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronald James Bales has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a youngster, Mr. Bales' wonderful parents enlisted him in the Boy Scouts of America. His incredible troop leader was Sergeant George Eidemiller. When Mr. Bales was at Boy Scout Camporee, his little sister, Cindy, fell ill just before her sixth birthday. It was the flu, but while at the hospital, she rolled out of bed on her head. She passed away six days later. Mr. Bales, then aged 11, told his father he could sue the hospital for a lot of money. Mr. Bales' dad commented, "All the money in the world won't bring Cindy back." That comment cemented Mr. Bales relation to money. Cindy's passing was the most horrible event in the lives of his parents and himself.
A seasoned finance professional of nearly 35 years, Mr. Bales owned an eponymous practice through which he handled accounting and financial planning services. Upon graduation from Oregon State University with a Master's in Business Administration, Mr. Bales went to work for Tektronix, Inc. in Portland, Oregon. When his father became ill, he moved back to The Dalles, Oregon to help. While in The Dalles, the accounting firm of Nelson and Rooper, CPAs called Mr. Bales and asked for an interview. Mr. Bales was hired and eventually became a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) and a certified financial planner (CFP). He became a partner in the firm of Rooper, Onstott, Bales, and Broehl, CPAs – a position he held from 1975 to 1988 when he started his own firm.
In addition to his work as a CPA and CFP, Mr. Bales taught business courses at the local college, Columbia Gorge University. He was also a director for the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) and taught courses for the OSCPA. As a talented writer, Mr. Bales wrote a novel called "Eagle Creek, a Murder Mystery." The novel is suitable for teens and adults. It chronicles the story of Cody Crosby, who attempts to solve the murder of his best friend's fiancée. He is currently working on a second book, titled "Consequences" which was inspired by his desire to speak to and turn the tides on crime rates. The story follows two sisters, one who is a doctor; the other a private detective with the Vancouver Police Department. The detective, Carmen, works with schools to teach youths and criminals about to be released from incarceration to consider the consequences of their actions; to think. It also includes stories on the personal lives of the two sisters.
Family-oriented and fiercely protective of those closest to him, Mr. Bales is particularly proud of his daughter, Michelle Lynn Bales, who he considers the light of his life. Marilyn Bales, Michelle's mother, passed away from cancer. She was incredible, too. An accomplished professional, he has been recognized many times for his work, including nomination to the Eagle Scouts Order of the Arrow, an honorary society.
