A recognized expert in spectroscopy, chemometrics and analytical chemistry, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic has been employed as the director of analytics and digital innovation for the Pall Corporation since 2020. Responsible for the conceptualization and implementation of process analytical technology (PAT) in continuous bioprocessing, she also develops systems for manufacturing new products and, among other duties, manages a talented team of scientists and engineers. Aligned with the organization since 2016, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic previously served as a senior principal research and development scientist and senior global process chemistry manager.
In the industry for more than two decades, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic began her career with Digilab LLC in Randolph, Massachusetts, in 2001 as an applications scientist in spectroscopy and chemometrics. She subsequently served in a similar capacity for Axsun Technologies in Billerica, Massachusetts, before being named a principal scientist of process analytical technology (PAT) of the research and development team at GlaxoSmithKline in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, between 2005 and 2007. Dr. Botonjic-Sehic also held leading roles with Barr/TEVA Pharmaceuticals in Pomona, New York, as well as for Morpho Detection (formerly GE Homeland Protection), including as the company's principal investigator and senior engineering program manager from 2009 to 2016, where she oversaw several government-funded projects for the development of systems for trace and bulk materials detection.
As an extension of her career, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic has authored numerous scholarly papers. She has also presented many times before industry leaders in the areas of spectroscopy, chemometrics and bioprocessing. Recognizing her achievements in the field, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic received an award in spectroscopy from EAS Spectroscopy Society and was a member of Kappa Nu Epsilon mathematical honor society.
Proud of her accomplishments, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic is an immigrant and refugee who journeyed to the U.S. at the age of 15. In addition to learning English, she focused on establishing herself in what is considered a male-dominated field. Among her greatest achievements, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic was instrumental in building a brand-new manufacturing pipeline for an organization. She also garnered eight years of experience supporting Homeland Security R&D.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Botonjic-Sehic received a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and mathematics at Assumption University (formerly Assumption College) in 2000, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy and chemometrics at the University of Rhode Island in 2004. Moreover, she is currently enrolled in coursework in the Harvard Business Analytics Program at Harvard Business School. Dr. Botonjic-Sehic speaks Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian and English fluently.
