In 2022, he joined Avenues to Independence in Park Ridge, Illinois, as the vice president of finance and chief financial officer. In this capacity, Dr. Gross is focused on developing policies and procedures for human resources and building employee handbooks. He is also in the process of implementing the data-driven restructuring of the accounting department to ensure more efficiency. Avenues to Independence is notably a nonprofit organization that provides residential, vocational and individual support to those with developmental disabilities.
Apart from his responsibilities with Avenues to Independence, Dr. Gross has been the chief data scientist for Massachusetts Monarchs since 2022. He has also served as the lead data scientist for The Aces Network in Boston since 2021, where he demonstrates his expertise in performing analysis. Furthermore, Dr. Gross has been the principal consultant of AJG Analytics since 2018, where he continues to provide consulting services for nonprofit organizations and small businesses throughout the suburbs of Chicago. In addition to his primary career endeavors, Dr. Gross has been an adjunct professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology since 2019, where he teaches courses in statistics and advanced quantitative research methods in psychometrics.
Dr. Gross is the former finance manager for the Chicago Sinai Congregation, where he served between 2021 and 2022. Furthermore, he was the chief financial officer for Shelter Inc. from 2018 to 2019, an accountant for the Joliet Job Corps Center between 2015 and 2016, and, among other roles, spent two years in an internship role as an assessor for the personnel board of Jefferson County in Birmingham, Alabama, between 2017 and 2019.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gross has provided his expertise to profit and nonprofit organizations. Saving clients tens of thousands of dollars, he has successfully streamlined accounting departments, increased fundraising activities for private organizations and decreased costs. Dr. Gross attributes his professional and entrepreneurial success to his passion and perseverance, as well as his ongoing optimism.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Gross has been lending his time and expertise to the Center for Enriched Living in Riverwoods, Illinois, for more than a decade as a volunteer. He notably served as the organization's former chief financial officer and program assistant. Dr. Gross has also served at the Shir-Hadash Reconstructionist Synagogue in Wheeling, Illinois, as the chairperson of the fundraising committee, as the vice president of education and as a board member since 2021. Furthermore, Dr. Gross sponsors the Pinta Pride Project.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Gross earned a Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership from Dominican University in 2009, a Master of Business Administration at the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University in 2014 and a Doctor of Philosophy in business psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2020. Dr. Gross also received a postgraduate certificate in data science and business analytics at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 and certification in data science with structured query language and Tableau at Cornell University in 2022.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Dr. Gross is presently a member of the International Positive Psychology Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Illinois CPA Society. Moreover, Dr. Gross is a prominent member of IVY: The Social University, the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society and the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society.
