Dr. Ben-Ur received a Distinguished Faculty Service Award from the University of Houston at Victoria for the 2009-2010 academic school year.

After working at the University of Houston at Victoria for 23 years, Dr. Ben-Ur was named a professor emeritus of marketing in 2020. Recruited to teach as an assistant professor in 1996, he excelled in his role, earning the title of assistant professor in 1996, associate professor in 2001 and full professor in 2010. He taught marketing classes, conducted research in several influential areas and served in key roles at the university. During his tenure, Dr. Ben-Ur also notably twice served as president of Faculty Senate, was on each of the Faculty Senate's committees, and was involved in several important efforts and committees, including the presidential search committee that hired UHV President Bob Glenn. He also took part in early efforts to offer online classes for students and the process of earning accreditation from AACSB International.
As an educator, Dr. Ben-Ur often incorporated real-world learning experiences into the classroom. He also developed what he explained as a "smooth process of learning" for undergraduate students and implemented an alternative method that was more thought-oriented for graduate students, which provided a greater impact on students' various learning styles. In the university Crossroads training, he presented marketing lectures and provided marketing advice to the Bay City business community. He also lectured and advised 10th graders in Victoria about career choices.
As a researcher in his field, Dr. Ben-Ur often studied and demonstrated the significance of gaining trust between the buyer and seller, the effects of social media in various countries and other relevant topics. Disseminating numerous scholarly articles, his most admired contribution was a research article about why political marketing strategy and general marketing methodologies should coincide with one another. He also served as the senior editor for the Journal of Political Marketing. Among other accomplishments in the field, Dr. Ben-Ur was also a chair of sessions at several international conferences in Europe, where he also taught and assisted doctoral students, and delivered presentations at numerous professional speaking engagements.
Dr. Ben-Ur's initial exposure to the field of marketing was due to his father, who specialized in importing clothing materials for women. After briefly studying mathematics and physics in college, Dr. Ben-Ur developed a passion for economics and business, switched majors and earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and a Master of Business Administration at Hebrew University in 1974 and 1977, respectively. Dr. Ben-Ur subsequently achieved a Doctor of Philosophy in marketing at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1987.
During his professional career, Dr. Ben-Ur co-founded the technology special interest group for the American Marketing Association. He was also a two-time president of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. To commemorate his accomplishments, Dr. Ben-Ur received a Distinguished Faculty Service Award from the University of Houston at Victoria for the 2009-2010 academic school year.
In retirement, he plans to travel, continue his research and perhaps serves as a UHV guest speaker.
