Ms. Jorgensen won a gold medal from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2017 for her illustration work.
LAKEWOOD, CO, October 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Renee L. Jorgensen has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With more than 45 years of experience as an artist, Ms. Jorgensen utilizes her talents as a nature and sciences illustrator. In this capacity, she serves Red Feather Studio, specializing in scientific and botanical illustrations and calligraphic hand lettering. Since 2000, she has focused her creative efforts on working with publishers, and botany scientists. She enjoys spending time in nature capturing photographic studies, drawing and sketching. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Jorgensen is a member of the American Society of Botanical Arts, the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists, the Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting, the Colorado Calligraphy Guild, and the New York Society of Scribes. She also continues to work as a lettering artist, photographer and a commercial and graphic designer, roles she held prior to 2000.
Outside of her primary career efforts, Ms. Jorgensen works as an instructor for the School of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens since 2005. At this institution, she teaches in-person and online classes in drawing skills, pen and ink illustration, watercolor mixing and painting, watercolor pencil illustration, and illustrating in various mixed medias. Passionate about all types of art and creativity, she aims to help others gain that same passion. Additionally, she is a talented presenter speaking at library systems, fairs and festivals regarding the work at Red Feather Studio. She is also a volunteer instructor for children, helping to improve their handwriting skills.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Jorgensen graduated with a diploma from Warren Technical School in 1975 and completed coursework in fine and studio arts from the Colorado State University College of Business. She subsequently attained an Associate of Science in Commercial and Advertising Art from the Community College of Denver. Ms. Jorgensen is a certified handwriting instructor and holds a scientific and fine art illustration certification through the School of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Jorgensen won a gold medal from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2017 for her illustration work. She also received an award from the local community college, allowing her to design the "Welcome to Colorado State" entry sign.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Jorgensen plans to create more original artwork and explore outside of her technical realm into a more creative realm while also contributing more to Red Feather Studio. She also is illustrating and authored a book, "Illuminating the Alphabet," which will be published in the near future.
