In 2009, he was appointed as a senior associate and counsel for Fulbright and Jaworski. During this time, he also served as a legal editor for the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation from 2011 to 2015. He subsequently was recruited as a senior counsel for Christensen Fonder, P.A. in 2014 before advancing to become an attorney position for Christensen Fonder Dardi Herbert PLLC. He further excelled as an intellectual property attorney for Recombinetics, Inc. in 2017 and was promoted to the chief patent counsel and director of intellectual property. He continued his career as a partner, rejoining Christensen Fonder Dardi Herbert PLLC.
Notably, Mr. Fairman earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from James Madison University in 1983 and a Doctor of Philosophy in biomedical sciences and medical physiology from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine in 1994. He subsequently obtained a Juris Doctor in intellectual property from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2001. Well-qualified in his field, he has been admitted to practice by the Minnesota State Bar Association and is certified with the United States Patent Bar.
As part of his career, Mr. Fairman has contributed numerous publications in journals and has participated in a great deal of speaking presentations as well. He authored "America Invents Act: Practical Applications of Patent Reform" in 2012 and "Patent Valuations, Unlocking the Value In Your Patent Portfolio" in 2014, both for the Newsletter of the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation.
