HOLMEN, WI, October 18, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ruth A. Scholze has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Having led a distinguished career in library science for more than four decades, Mrs; Scholze is presently aligned with the La Crosse County Library in Holmen, Wisconsin, as an outreach library clerk. In this capacity, she focuses on delivering library services to homebound and care facilities. The La Crosse County Library, originally founded in 1923, presently has affiliated locations in Bangor, Campbell, Holmen, Onalaska, and West Salem, Wisconsin.
Prior to being re-hired by La Crosse County Library, Mrs. Scholze functioned as a school librarian for Evergreen Elementary School between 1990 and 2012. She also garnered experience as a children's librarian at the La Crosse County Library from 1981 to 1990 after working as a substitute librarian, 1979-1981. During an earlier stage of her career, Mrs. Scholze was a sixth-grade teacher at Saint Boniface Elementary School in Iowa, and a third-grade teacher's assistant and long-term substitute teacher at West Salem Elementary School.
As a part of her extensive established commitment to civic endeavors, Mrs. Scholze was an active board member of the Holmen Area Foundation and the Holmen Area Historical Society. She attends and supports the Holmen Business Association. She is also the President for the Friends of McGilvray Road and active with the Holmen Area Community Center. Mrs. Scholze has been a lifelong, active member at Halfway Creek Lutheran Church in Holmen. Among countless other memberships and affiliations, Mrs. Scholze has also been involved with the Holmen School District in numerous roles: District Librarian, mathematics and library curriculum committees member, technology and family literacy committee member, and volunteer story time reader.
A native of the area, Mrs. Scholze graduated from Holmen High School in 1973. She subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, with a minor in religion, from Wartburg College in 1977 and a Master of Arts in educational media from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse in 1982.
To remain aware of developments in the field of education, Ms. Scholze is a member of the La Crosse Retired Education Association and the Wisconsin Retired Education Association. Additionally, Mrs. Scholze has served many positions with Delta Kappa Gamma - Theta Chapter.
Honoring her career efforts, Mrs. Scholze was the first non-educator to receive the Midwest Wisconsin Reading Council Celebrate Literacy Award in 1987. She also received the Diane Gromacke La Crosse County Library Award for Outstanding Service to Our Youngest Patrons in 2016. In recognition of her community efforts, Mrs. Scholze received a Community Service Award from the Holmen Business Association in 2015, the Komfest Citizen of the Year in 2018, a Servant Leadership Award from the Holmen Area Foundation in 2021, and Holmen High School Alumni Award in 2022.
