SAN DIEGO, CA, October 20, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Bill Creasy has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Recognized for more than four and a half decades of contributions to the field of education, Dr. Creasy has found success as the president and chief executive officer of Logos Educational Corporation, through which he leads the Logos Bible Study program. The LBS program offers over 20 university-level courses with hundreds of comprehensive video lessons covering the entire Bible, Genesis through Revelation, as well as live weekly seminars and discussion groups on scripture via Zoom. Dr. Creasy has led more than 60 teaching tours to Israel, through which he conveys on site the historical, theological and cultural context for the biblical stories and events that he teaches. Additionally, he has led dozens of biblical teaching tours throughout the Mediterranean world, including Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Greece, Italy, Spain and the Aegean islands. Dr. Creasy also serves as host of the popular bi-weekly podcast, "One Year Bible" and the weekly podcast, "Scripture Uncovered."
Dr. Creasy served on the English department faculty at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) from 1977 through 2005. His flagship course was "The English Bible as Literature," a course that attained such popularity that for over two decades he was ranked among the top 2% of UCLA teaching faculty. In 1995 Dr. Creasy adapted his course for a more general audience and it spread quickly throughout southern California, Arizona and then to the Internet, where it achieved a truly global presence, reaching thousands of students weekly. In their book Roman Catholics and Evangelicals (Grand Rapids: Baker Books, 1995), Dr. Norman L. Geisler and Ralph E. MacKenzie dubbed Dr. Creasy a "Bible Teacher Extraordinaire."
As a scholar, Dr. Creasy's work includes his translation of Thomas à Kempis' The Imitation of Christ, recognized by critics as the standard translation of this 1441 spiritual classic. He also served as scholar-in-residence at Sinai Temple, the oldest and largest Conservative Jewish synagogue in Los Angeles, the first Christian academic to hold that position. In 2004, the San Diego Ecumenical Council honored him for his extensive work in ecumenism.
Outside of academia, Dr. Creasy is an avid scuba diver. He is an Instructor Certifier, technical diver and cave diver. He has worked on numerous underwater archeological projects and he has led countless diving expeditions to the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea, the Egyptian Red Sea, the Caribbean, the South Pacific and the deep cave systems of north-central Florida.
Before venturing onto his vocational path, Dr. Creasy served in the U.S. Marine Corps between 1966 and 1972, during which time he gained a sense of direction, purpose and ironclad discipline. After his honorable discharge, he went on to seek a formal education at Arizona State University, from which he received, summa cum laude, a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 and a Master of Arts degree in 1976. He then went on to his doctoral studies at UCLA, where he earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in English literature in 1982.
In accounting for his success, Dr. Creasy credits the influence of his family and his close friend and mentor, Professor John X. Evans, whom he seeks to emulate in both his personal and academic life. Looking toward the future, Dr. Creasy is currently rewriting and re-recording much of his earlier material on scripture, which he hopes will create a significant body of work for future generations of biblical scholars and teachers.
