Though his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Witt is most proud of his involvement with COVID-19 studies, through which he has learned much of the different characteristics of the virus.
WHITE HALL, AR, October 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William M. Witt, DVM, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Supported by years of professional experience, Dr. Witt presently serves as a research pathologist with Toxicologic Pathology Associates, Inc., which handles onsite pathology services for the Food and Drug Administration's National Center for Toxicological Research. Bearing a particular emphasis on veterinary pathology, Dr. Witt previously worked as the director of the Division of Veterinary Services for the National Center for Toxicological Research, a pathology consultant for such organizations as the U.S. Air Force's School of Aerospace Medicine and the San Antonio Zoological Gardens and Aquarium, and as director of the Animal Resources Center of the University of Texas Medical Branch.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Dr. Witt also dedicated himself to his country as an enlisted officer in the U.S. Naval Seabees with a tour of duty in Antarctica (operation Deep Freeze 70) and a commissioned officer first in the U.S. Air Force and then the U.S. Public Health Service. In conjunction with his work, he contributes to his community through Trinity Lutheran Church as congregational president and church elder and has been a basketball, baseball and football coach for the local elementary school program. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the Society of Toxicology, the Society of Toxicologic Pathology, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. He served many years as a site visitor for the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care.
An expert in his field, Dr. Witt holds an Associate of Arts from Cisco Junior College, which he attained in 1973. Following this accomplishment, he went on to study at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1975, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1976 and a Doctor of Philosophy in veterinary pathology in 1983. Over the years, he has been one of the top three runners in his age division in the Grand Prix Road Runners Series in Arkansas. He is listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges (1973) and named as an Outstanding Young Man in America (1985) through the United States Junior Chamber.

While hard work and dedication have brought him far, he attributes much of his success to his family, particularly his wife, who helped put him through veterinary school.
