NORTH CHESTERFIELD, VA, October 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dawn M. Blair, RN, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With more than 10 years of excellence to her credit as a nurse, Ms. Blair has found success as a registered nurse case manager with Hospice of Virginia. Since 2018, she has focused her efforts on seeing various patients each day who have varying degrees of illness, most of whom have terminal diseases. She conducts assessments with expertise in medical-surgical and aesthetic nursing, labor and delivery, and triage and attends to whatever her patients need.
Also a dedicated civil advocate, Ms. Blair has volunteered with the Ring Dog Rescue and with Richmond Animal Care and Control. She is a certified dog trainer and helps to care for the animals in her local shelters. Inspired by her relationship with her own little rescue dog, she authored "Me and Mr. Monks: The Story of a Special Little Rescue Dog That Saved My Life," which was published in 2022.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Blair began her career as a registered nurse for the intensive care unit at the Bon Secours Health System Inc. in 2013. She then joined VCU Health Systems as a staff nurse in 2014 and worked many positions within the health system. She held positions within the hospital in the women's unit at VCU along with the Gumenick Suites and in 2017 became a clinic triage nurse for the complex care clinic. In 2020, she became a hospice admissions nurse for Hospice of Virginia. The next year, she tried aesthetic registered nursing with Ideal Image but knew her heart belonged in hospice care. In late 2021 she went to work for At Home Care Hospice and eventually returned to Hospice of Virginia in 2022 where she presently holds a position as a registered nurse case manager.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Blair earned a Bachelor of Science in mass communication with a concentration in public relations from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1997. She then obtained an Associate of Applied Science in nursing from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in 2012. Well-qualified in her field, she is a registered nurse. In recognition of her excellent work, she was honored with an award from Companion Extraordinaire Home Care Services where she taught Certified Nurse Aide classes and was an honorary guest for the "Shining Knight Gala" at VCU Health in 2016. She also is a 10-time recipient of the DAISY Awards through VCU Health.
Within the coming years, Ms. Blair plans to shift her career focus to become a professional author. She is currently writing her second book about saving the life of a special needs pitbull who was about to be euthanized. She also is looking forward to the film adaptation of her first book.
