Mr. Torres takes the most pride in being awarded the Team of Excellence Plaque in 1997 for being the Best Children's Librarian Group at The Miami Dade Public Library.
MIAMI, FL, October 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alfredo U. Torres has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After working as a librarian for the Miami Dade Public Library for 20 years, Mr. Torres retired in 2016. During the early stages of his career, he gained valuable expertise in the field of library sciences through Miami Dade College, where he worked as a librarian, and the Information Center of the Ministry of Justice, through which he served as head librarian. Outside of his work, Mr. Torres participated in a camp that was organized by Catholic Charities in Miami-Dade.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Torres aligned himself with the Florida and American Library Associations. Before embarking on his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science in library science from Havana University in 1976. Subsequently, he received a Master of Library Science from the University of South Florida. In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Torres won the Best Employee Award through the Ministry of Justice three years in a row.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Torres takes the most pride in being awarded the Team of Excellence Plaque in 1997 for being the Best Children's Librarian Group at The Miami Dade Public Library. While hard work and dedication have brought him far, he credits his success to his ability to endure and overcome obstacles. When he came to the United States from Cuba, his degree was not valid, so he had to go to university again. In addition to studying, he had to overcome the language barrier he faced. In the coming years, Mr. Torres aims to fully recover from his current health crisis and begin working as a part-time librarian.
