OMAHA, NE, October 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- DaShawn J. McGary has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. McGary serves as the co-founder and director of finance for Divine Living, a Department of Health and Human Services- and Medicaid-approved group home providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. A family-owned business, Divine Living was founded by Mr. McGary and his mother in 2021 to provide people with special needs with a family-centered environment while also offering enrichment activities to improve their social skills. In his role, he oversees staff hiring and training, maintains accurate records, and organizes such programs as barbecues, arts and crafts activities, and arcade outings. In addition, he draws upon a background in finance to ensure accuracy of financial documents, oversee payroll and billing, and assist social security beneficiaries with accessing their full benefits.
After being awarded with a Susan Buffet scholarship to study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Mr. McGary earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis from the university's business school in 2021; he also served as Vice Basileus for the Tau Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., a member of the OASIS Intercultural Leadership Program and Big Red Investment Club. While pursuing his degree, he worked in a group home, Abundant Quality Care, where he assisted people with developmental disabilities. He excelled at the work, becoming a favorite staff person to residents and agency providers alike. Upon graduating from college, Mr. McGary collaborated with his mother - who studied social work and had always dreamed of having her own group home - to create Divine Living.
In addition to his work with Divine Living, Mr. McGary is a brand ambassador for Budget to Success, Director of Community Partnerships for Change of Omaha, and Committee Chair of the Omega sQuires Mentoring Program. Previously, he served as a financial representative intern at Northwestern Mutual and a billing analyst at Fiserv. He holds a state of Nebraska life and health insurance license.
Among his many career accomplishments, Mr. McGary is especially proud of receiving the Changemaker Award from the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce in 2022. He attributes much of his success to the support and encouragement of his family, particularly his parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and grandparents, as well as his friends and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity brothers who mentored him.
Looking toward the future, Mr. McGary hopes to pivot his career toward the field of entertainment and sports law. In this capacity, he aspires to help talented people avoid being taken advantage of. He also wishes to pursue a law degree at Georgia State University or Emory State University and has set a goal of purchasing homes for himself and his family.
