The store offers many popular brand items such as Scholastic, Disney Learning, and Fat Brain Toys. Every game, toy, and publication sold in Mr. Schuett's store has an educational and developmental benefit. Partnering with the Texas Workforce Commission, Mr. Schuett provides job skills development to special needs students at Funtastic. Students have the opportunity to learn essential skills that range from website maintenance, YouTube video production, inventory management, and shipping, to bookkeeping and other daily responsibilities of managing a retail facility. Avid about inclusion, Mr. Schuett is excited about the future of his business. Among his future goals, he aims to open 13 additional brick-and-mortar locations and a warehouse within Texas and eventually begin franchising the company outside the state of Texas.
As an extension of his primary work, Mr. Schuett has participated in numerous homeschool and special needs trade shows and conferences throughout the state. For several years, Funtastic has been a sponsor for events by Kinetic Kids, a non-profit organization for Special Needs, in San Antonio. He has also been involved with the School Nurses Conference in Southeast Texas. Furthermore, Mr. Schuett is an approved vendor for several area school districts providing various essential learning tools for students.
Born in Nebraska, Mr. Schuett formed a sense of duty to family, community, and country on his grandfather's dairy farm. Subsequently, relocated to Houston with his family during the Carter Administration, Mr. Schuett graduated from high school, earned his first undergraduate degree during 14 years of service in the U.S. Navy repairing submarines, received a second degree in Multimedia Development, and ultimately obtained a Master of Business Administration.
In honor of his entrepreneurial efforts, Mr. Schuett received a Congressional Proclamation for his services to the community and for hiring veterans and adults with disabilities. The proclamation is due, in part, to Dan Crenshaw, United States Representative for Texas' 2nd Congressional District and a former U.S. Navy Seal who learned of Mr. Schuett's special needs store and wanted him to become recognized. Mr. Schuett was also honored with a Humanitarian Service Medal from the U.S. Navy for his volunteer efforts during cleanup after the devastation from Hurricane Hugo in Charleston, South Carolina.
