An animal rights advocate, Mr. LaPapa frequently donates to various dog and cat rescue shelters. During an earlier stage of his career, he was notably responsible for saving the life of a 1,200-pound boar that he had adopted by the Lambs Farm in Libertyville, Illinois, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping adults with developmental disabilities. After filing an injunction, the animal, which Mr. LaPapa named "Rambo" and was originally headed to a slaughterhouse, was featured in a local newspaper and subsequently visited by hundreds of school children from throughout the state on field trips.
An alumnus of DePaul University, Mr. LaPapa earned a Bachelor of Science in commerce in 1978 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1982. He has since been admitted to practice by the Illinois State Bar Association. Mr. LaPapa remains a life member of Phi Eta Sigma and Delta Mu Delta.
Born into a blue-collar family, Mr. LaPapa was the first to graduate from college and law school. Grateful for his success, his driving force was instilled by his desire to never disappoint his parents.
