Lillian Joy Adams, RN Shines as a Nurse with Maxim Healthcare

To prepare for her career in nursing, Ms. Adams first earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences in liberal arts and general studies from Antelope Valley College in 1995 before achieving an Associate of Science in nursing from Imperial Valley College in 1998. The next year, she became certified as a registered nurse and began serving in the role upon joining the El Centro Regional Medical Center in El Centro, California. By 2004, she joined Lompoc Valley Medical Center in Lompoc, California as a registered nurse, where she remained for 13 years until 2017. She then worked in the same position at Global Personnel Pool, Inc. in Ventura, California for one year through 2018.

Since 2018, Ms. Adams has excelled as a registered nurse with Maxim Healthcare in San Luis Obispo, California. Over the years, her responsibilities have included overseeing patient admission and discharge, administering scheduled medications and therapies, monitoring and recording patient conditions, administering immunizations and maintaining quality care systems and standards. Additionally, she has coordinated care with physicians and other clinical staff to prepare for treatment, carry out interventions and enhance continuum of care to deliver comprehensive services. She has also instructed patients, caregivers and families on diagnoses, treatment options and self-management to maintain continuity of care.

For her excellence in patient care, Ms. Adams was honored as Employee of the Quarter by Maxim Healthcare in 2020 and 2021. She credits her success to her genuine passion for nursing and for establishing relationships with each patient. She prides herself on being able to make a difference in their lives at a time when they need support and care the most. Likewise, she expresses much gratitude to one of her mentors, Lisa Winter, who is also a nurse.

Interested in continuing to grow within the health care industry, Ms. Adams attained a Bachelor of Technology in health care administration and management from DeVry University in 2021. Planning to further advance as an industry professional, she is currently pursuing a master's degree and hopes to continue her work as a registered nurse, as well as in home health care.
