After working at the Kennedy Space Center for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for many years, Mr. Diaz retired from his role as a power systems analysis coordinator. In his role, he maintained responsibility for controlling all electric current systems at the facility. Prior to obtaining that role, he worked as a power systems analyst and as an electrical engineer. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Diaz aligned himself with many organizations, including the National Society of Professional Engineers.
An expert in his field, Mr. Diaz holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Santander in Colombia, as well as a degree from Northwestern University. In light of his outstanding body of work, he received a letter of appreciation from two astronauts in 1981 and a Certificate of Appreciation from the NASA Kennedy Space Center in 2011.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Diaz takes the most pride in the reputation he built at NASA, which culminated in their request for him to return to work a mere 20 days after his retirement.
