Ms. Malik is a senior officer of resource development and business partnerships for the Aga Khan Foundation USA- an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Since June 2022, she has been actively involved with the point of sale (POS) and sponsorship campaigns that support annual fundraising efforts. These campaigns raise funds and awareness to fight poverty in Africa and Asia through the Aga Khan Development Network.
AKDN is comprised of private, non-denominational development agencies that serve to improve the living conditions of those residing in the most impoverished areas of the world. Focusing on economic, social and cultural development, the network's annual budget is over $900 million.
Grateful for the opportunity to work with AKDN, Ms. Malik brings to the institution a wealth of experience from her travels to Africa, Pakistan, Hong Kong and other areas of the world making her well-informed of what poverty truly means. In addition to her commitments with AKDN, Ms. Malik has been serving as a member of the board of directors of the United Nations Association of Houston since 2022 and was a member of the Greater Houston Partnership in 2019. She also recently served as a senior fellow of international sustainable development for the Resource Centre in Geneva between 2021 and 2022 and had the opportunity to collaborate with the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum, a community-led initiative where she worked with leaders from various backgrounds. Looking toward the future, Ms. Malik aims to expand her influence so that she can establish better awareness of the causes for which she advocates.
Ms. Malik spent many years in entrepreneurship as the co-owner and director of several jewelry businesses between 1996 through 2018. Ms. Malik was Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Benzer Capital and an investment partner of San Angelo LLC, a property investment company.
To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Malik was named an Outstanding Speaker at World Speech Day in 2022. She also received a Making an Impact Award from Benzer Capital in 2018 and a Certificate of Recognition from the Jubilee Arts International Arts Festival in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2018.
An alumnus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, Ms. Malik received a master's degree in management in 2018. Ms. Malik also received multiple certifications over the past decade, including for teaching sustainable development goals through art via the Aga Khan Foundation, in religion, conflict and peace through Harvard University, and in creating public value and leadership via the Harvard Kennedy School. Other credentials include Vatican Seal certification through the Catholic Social Doctrine for Professionals at the Catholic University of America, certification in management practices for safer roads via the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and the completion of the GIA Global Leadership Program through Harvard Business School.
Professionally, Ms. Malik was named a presidential member of the National Society of Leadership and Success at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2015. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Malik is a professional member of the United Nations Association of the USA, the American Ismaili Chamber of Commerce AICC, and the Fort bend Chamber of Commerce.
