PANAMA CITY, FL, November 17, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melanie A. Boyd has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A faculty member at Gulf Coast State College for more than a decade, Ms. Boyd is presently a professor and chair of business and technology on campus. In addition to teaching and overseeing all of the programs within the department, she is responsible for supervising all 13 full-time educators and five support personnel members. Equally important, Ms. Boyd must remain abreast of the ever-changing technology. In doing so, she works closely with the Economic Development Alliance to ensure that the department keeps its programs aligned with industry needs.
Prior to being recruited by Gulf Coast State College, Ms. Boyd taught as an adjunct instructor at Gulf Coast Community College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Ms. Boyd also worked in the field as a supervisor of elections for Bay County, Florida, as a bookkeeper for Boyd Construction Specialties, and as a public works director for the City of Parker, Florida.
Active in her community, Ms. Boyd frequently collaborates with a local emergency response team. She is also a member of the chamber of commerce.
Highly educated, Ms. Boyd received an Associate of Science in aerospace ground equipment at the Community College of the Air Force in 1980, followed by an Associate of Arts in pre-business administration at Gulf Coast Community College in 1991. Continuing her studies, she earned a Bachelor of Science in management and a Master of Business Administration at Florida State University in 1993 and 1995, respectively. Furthermore, Ms. Boyd completed additional graduate hours in computer technology education at Emporia State University in 1999 and graduate hours in accounting education at the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University in 2010. Additional educational pursuits to Ms. Boyd's credit include an executive leadership certificate from Cornell University in 2011, a graduate certificate in human performance technology from the University of West Florida in 2014, a professional certification in higher education leadership from Pennsylvania State University in 2014, and an Education Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction at the University of West Florida in 2015.
Ms. Boyd notably served in the U.S. Air Force as an aerospace ground equipment mechanic from 1985 to 1990. In honor of her contributions to the military, Ms. Boyd was decorated with an Achievement Medal and an Accommodation Medal.
