Ms. Poitier was named the Registered Medical Assistant of the Year in 1997 by the American Medical Technologists and again in 2000 by the State of Florida chapter.

With more than 35 years of experience to her credit as a registered medical assistant, Ms. Poitier has found success as a medical specialist with A-1 Claims Service, Inc. Since 1985, she has focused her efforts on completing diagnostic coding and filing insurance paperwork for the physicians. Additionally, she has worked with Vijay N. Samant, MD, an infectious disease specialist serving the Boca Raton, Florida, area since 1985. In this capacity, she processes the medical billing for the physician, ensuring that documentation is accurate and in order for insurance billing. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Poitier is a member of the American Medical Technologists.
Outside of her primary career efforts, Ms. Poitier volunteers with Emmanuel Christian Center. She has also lent her expertise to Back on Track as a mentor and counselor to at-risk youth, and volunteering with the little league football team. Prior to her current roles, she served as a medical assistant for several physicians and cardiologists for five years.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Poitier completed coursework in nursing education and medical assistance at H&B Medical College in 1981. She subsequently studied at Broward College for 10 months and completed courses in medical coding with K&B Technologies.
In recognition of her excellent work, Ms. Poitier was named the Registered Medical Assistant of the Year in 1997 by the American Medical Technologists and again in 2000 by the State of Florida chapter. She received the Exceptional Merit award from national committees in 2001 and the MOM Award, the highest award a medical assistant can achieve, in 2004. The next year, she was honored with a Medallion of Merit for exemplifying the power of positive thinking in overcoming challenges.
Passionate about putting others before herself, Ms. Poitier's current goal is to mentor others to help them pursue a career so that they can achieve their own successes. She intends to continue to train young women in medical billing and coding, encouraging them to pursue higher education toward a medical assistant career. As part of this goal, Ms. Poitier plans to establish her own company, teaching medical billing and coding and sharing her knowledge with a wide array of advancing professionals.
