Since joining First PREMIER Bank and Bankcard in 2015, Ms. Stratton has excelled as the organization's assistant vice president of total rewards. Having served in the industry for more than 30 years, she is an expert in benefits, compensation, and the human resources information system, as well as various other areas of the field. Among a myriad of responsibilities, Ms. Stratton oversees vendor relationships and agreements, project enhancements and strategic planning, and retirement planning programs for employees.
Throughout the course of her professional journey, Ms. Stratton has developed her strengths in human resources by working for several other organizations. She started her career in human resources in the manufacturing segment at American Western, CCL Label and Blue Dot. She accepted her first position in the banking industry at Wells Fargo as an assistant vice president in 2001. Ms. Stratton was subsequently recruited by the Great Western Bank as a senior vice president of people and culture in 2006 and POET as a senior vice president of human resources in 2010. Notably, she worked in education before transitioning into human resources, where she was a classroom teacher and coach for five years and then focused on assisting high school dropouts in search of employment.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Stratton was heavily involved in sports for many years. She notably established a local gymnastics program for girls during the 1970s. Though she encountered numerous issues in this regard due to systemic misogyny, she believed in what she was doing and the opportunity that it presented for her to exert a positive impact on young women. Ms. Stratton continues to remain active in her community through membership on local boards.
Ms. Stratton graduated from Deubrook High School and subsequently received a Bachelor of Science in Education at Dakota State University. She received certification as a senior professional in human resources and credentials as a senior certified professional via the Society for Human Resources Management.
Recognized by Ultimate Kronos Group, UKG, Ms. Stratton and her team received an Innovation Award in 2021 and First PREMIER Bank and Bankcard was selected as a finalist for an award for its retirement and 401K plan. Consequently, First PREMIER was chosen to serve on the panel of a major conference in 2022. To remain aware of developments in her field, Ms. Stratton is a professional member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the UKG Insiders Group.
Ms. Stratton attributes much of her success to her ability to maintain an effective balance between her personal life and her career. She also notes the importance of teamwork and working alongside her colleagues and subordinates, providing guidance and support when necessary, and allowing her employees to express their creative side.
