Cavanaugh, PhD, MAC, conservator of paintings and art historian at Jan Cavanaugh Paintings Conservation Services, has been selected for a cover feature in the Eleventh Edition of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Released triannually, Millennium Magazine features the narrative biographies of the world's most esteemed and accomplished professionals. An art conservator and historian for several decades, Dr. Jan C. Cavanaugh's love for art began at an early age. It led her to make art, study its historical evolution, write and lecture on it, and restore paintings. Receiving a BA in English literature and MA in art from the University of California Berkeley in 1967 and 1972, respectively, in 1974 she secured a Fulbright student exchange grant to study at the University of Warsaw in Poland. She studied Polish art history and, through visits to the National Museums, she discovered the richness of the Polish visual arts tradition. Several years later, she entered a graduate school program in art history at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a PhD in art history in 1989. From Queen's University at Kingston in Canada, she obtained a Master of Art Conservation in 2000.
