Since 1992, he has built a prolific career as the owner and a managing attorney at Gramling Environmental Law PA, through which he also serves as a certified circuit mediator in all judicial circuits in the state of Florida as of 2011. In addition to Mr. Gramling's extensive and well-respected private practice, he served as in-house counsel to a major public electric utility for 4 years, as the Hillsborough County Phosphate Mining Hearing Master for 15 years, as Chairman of the Board for Bay Area Legal Services Corporation, as Chairman of the Board for the Berkeley Preparatory School, and as a leader in many other public and private sector organizations. Mr. Gramling has served as subject matter expert and as a registered lobbyist, leading the creation of many statutory and regulatory initiatives, including the Florida Dry Cleaning Solvent Cleanup Program, the Florida Brownfields Program, the Florida Waste Pharmaceutical Program, the Risk Based Cleanup Program and many other well-established, core Florida environmental policies. Mr. Gramling attended Emory University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and philosophy in 1980. He earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1983, then worked as an Assistant Director of the Legal Research and Writing Program, at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He is licensed to practice law in all Florida courts, in the United States District Courts for the Southern District and the Middle Districts of Florida, in the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and in the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Gramling's academic work has been broadly published by well-respected authorities, including the Harvard Environmental Law Review. He was recognized by the American Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association for his pro bono service founding the Migrant Farm Worker Legal Aid Program of Hillsborough County, Florida. Mr. Gramling is recognized as one of the "Best Lawyers in America," as the "Lawyer of the Year for Tampa Environmental Litigation" in 2017, and as "Lawyer of the Year for Tampa Environmental Law" in 2016, among others.
