Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in industrial engineering, Mr. Byars has earned distinction as an engineer with Bechtel Jacobs. From 1998 until his retirement in 2006, he was an engineer and subcontractor manager. During his tenure, he focused his efforts on developing enriching arrangements, cleaning up nuclear waste, decontamination and disposing buildings and equipment that were on site. He also supervised subcontractors specialized in different aspects of the clean-up, such as working with the pressurized cylinders, contaminated cylinders, drums or other waste containers.
Prior to his most recent role, Mr. Byars began his career as a maintenance engineer with Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant for eight years and then served as an engineer and subcontractor manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority for 17 years. Following this time, he was a waste management engineer, subcontractor manager and supervisor for Lockheed Martin from 1991 to 1998.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Byars earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in industrial engineering. Well-qualified in his field, he is certified as a professional engineer. Outside of his primary career efforts, he volunteers on mission trips with his local church, teaching English using the Bible, both online and in person. Now that he is retired, he also enjoys spending his time traveling and gardening.
