During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Ruggiero was employed by Deloitte & Touche in New York, a highly-regard certified public accounting firm, between 1970 and 1974. Shortly thereafter, he formed his own cable television marketing company before being recruited by Cox Communications, a cable company provider, as a division manager in Indianapolis. Subsequently serving an instrumental role in the founding of an animated studio called Perennial Pictures Film Corporation, in 1983, Mr. Ruggiero presently serves as the organization's co-owner. During his distinguished tenure with Perennial, he has been responsible for producing more than a dozen television specials. The Perennial team has also become widely recognized for the creation of CrawfordTheCat.com, a website that has garnered the attention of over 12 million viewers and more than 20,000 teachers. The online site is geared at teaching children between the ages of three and seven by providing online games, puzzles, activity books, and other interactive activities, as well as teaching aids and lesson plans for elementary school teachers.
Lending his expertise to the industry, Mr. Ruggiero has served as a two-term governor of the AAFS 6th district, which encompasses Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. He has also garnered recognition with the National American Advertising Awards as a board member and member of its process committee.
Mr. Ruggiero is presently involved in filmmaking and is looking forward to having his projects produced in the next few years. Attributing much of his success in business to his energy, zest for life, and competitive nature, Mr. Ruggiero believes that nothing is impossible if he puts his mind to it.
Invested in the nonprofit sector, Mr. Ruggiero serves on the board of directors for the Mozel Sanders Foundation Inc., an organization that is based in Indianapolis and has been feeding the homeless throughout Central Indiana for more than 50 years. Mr. Ruggiero had also been active as the event chair of his local United Way, having been the recipient of an award for his fundraising efforts.
A graduate of LaSalle University, a Catholic university in Philadelphia, Mr. Ruggiero is a Phi Kappa Theta alumnus and 1970 graduate.
