Working alongside her husband, Sergey, who serves as the general manager of the HIP Group, Ms. Shikhanova specializes in providing custom window draperies, including design, fabrication and installation. Well-regarded for her expertise in this capacity, she was recognized in 2021 as the Gold Winner for Best Shade Control by the CEPro Home of the Year Awards, and in 2022 as the first place winner in the motorization category of the VISION Design and Workroom Competition.
Having cultivated a knack for knitting at the age of four, Ms. Shikhanova felt called to steer her ambitions toward the field of interior design. Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, she studied geography in her native Russia, where she earned a Master of Arts at Far Eastern Federal University in 2003. Years later, she immigrated to the United States and launched her career in interior design. Despite the doubts of many, she persevered and has since come to call most of her naysayers clients. Well-qualified in her field, she was designated as a design specialist by the Window Fashion Certified Professional program, and has maintained her affiliation with such organizations as the Window Coverings Association of America, the Interior Design Society, and the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties in Washington state.
Among her most cherished accomplishments, Ms. Shikhanova is most proud of her first project, which involved working in a high-ceilinged room that left her both nervous and excited. Likewise, she has been gratified to practice her craft in numerous beautiful homes, including one with 12 rooms. In accounting for her success, she largely credits the influence of her husband, Sergey, who has always counseled her to combine her passion with business, thereby ensuring a happy and satisfied life. Looking toward the future, Ms. Shikhanova aspires to expand upon ZCurtains' showroom, hire additional workers, and continue to grow the business and become one of the top three custom window treatment studios in the state of Washington.
