LEXINGTON, KY, February 23, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lina Yuk-Shui Fong, PhD, LCSW, ACSW, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging more than four decades of excellence in social work, Dr. Fong has earned distinction as the Founder and Executive Director of Global Adoption, Counseling, Cultural Resources Inc. "Global" reflects her vision, commitment and mission to serve people of all cultures, ethnicities and nations, connecting them with one another and back to God, their Creator. As it is named, this non-profit 501©(3) agency provides services in adoption, counseling and cultural resources. Adoption services include home study and post adoption follow up for domestic, international and embryo adoptions. Counseling serves the needs of diverse people from cradle to grave. Besides connecting people to people, the agency also connects people to relevant cultural resources, e.g., working with the Bar Association to enable people with limited English to connect with lawyers speaking their respective languages; enabling people from upcoming generations to continue to share the Gospel worldwide with the endowed pastoral/missionary training fund/annual scholarship and to continue to create innovative projects to connect people with the funding support of the endowed cross-cultural fund/annual grant.

Dr. Fong has earned her professional standing with a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong in 1970, a Master's in Social Work from the University of Hawaii in 1974, and a Ph.D. in Social Work in 1990 from the University of Southern California, all supported with awards of scholarship and fellowship, and graduated with flying colors. She has also earned her qualification as Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (A.C.S.W.), as a long standing valued member of the Association of Social Workers.

As the widow of a pastor who died young leaving her with their two daughters of two and three years old, Dr. Fong learned to trust and obey God's leading and provision to advance from a practicing social worker from the pioneer social work class of the University of Hong Kong into a practicing academic. With the miraculous provisions from God, she was able to provide a good environment and socialization raising her daughters, while pursuing and completing her doctoral degree. God also enabled her to overcome the tough struggle as a minority in race and gender by making this her power for advancement taking initiative to guide, serve, and develop diversity initiatives for schools of social work and universities at large, developing skills in accreditation of social work programs, attracting programs to hire her to help with accreditation and reaccreditation processes and to satisfy the need for having minority faculty as required. Her need to be uprooted and transplanted from one community to another going across states to help with accreditation of programs has equipped her well to be able to empathize with the need of minority cultural groups and the adaptation strategies and skills necessary for survival. God's grace has continued to be sufficient for Dr. Fong to raise her daughters (who are now successful, accomplished ladies married to her sons in laws with five children) while teaching and helping with accreditation, reaccreditation of new, growing, and dying programs, in campuses across the Unites States, in Kentucky, Idaho, Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, etc. Her developed expertise has qualified her to acquire the United States citizenship status for her and her daughters.

After retiring from academia, Dr. Fong has maintained her private practice. Her zeal to serve peoples of diverse cultures, ethnicities and nations has led her to have brought an uncountable number of exchange students from around the world to be placed into American schools and host homes, empowering exchanges and adaptation with one another, strengthening harmony and broadening world view for all involved. In founding the non-profit Global Adoption, Counseling, Cultural Resources Inc since 2005, it has been the venue to enable Dr. Fong to continue her spirit to produce, generate and contribute.

In her social work career, Dr. Fong in her role in teaching has enabled many social work students to be trained to produce an uncountable number of practicing social workers, some of whom may choose to become faculty to further produce more practicing social workers to serve the never-ending needs of our communities. While enhancing many undergraduate and graduate social work programs to become established and recognized with creditable accredited standing, some of her trained social workers may have become educators involved in accreditation to further produce more accredited undergraduate and graduate social workers to produce even more social workers. Produced from the pioneer social work undergraduate program in Hong Kong, Dr. Fong had helped to develop the first graduate social work program in Taiwan at the Tung Hai University in 1983-1984, and that in China at Shenzhen University in 2015. In her social work practice, she has been helping to enable children without a home and couples without children to get connected to produce more complete families with parents and children in warm home environments; to restore and empower individuals and families to become independent and wholesome to live on; to connect with and create relevant cultural resources to support people of this and upcoming generations.

She has donated seed money to establish the two endowment funds to become an annual scholarship to train pastors/missionaries, and to become an annual grant supporting individuals/organizations to develop creative projects to bring cultural, ethnicity, and national groups to be in harmony with one another and with God, Dr. Fong has laid the foundation to generate people from upcoming generations to pick up the torch to continue the mission God has placed on her and her late husband to go on even after they have left the earth, to fulfill the Great Commission until Christ returns.

Alongside her vast efforts to enhance cultural exchanges and understanding by placing exchange students in the U.S. and American students abroad is the "GreenHeart Project" done domestically and internationally. People from diverse cultures have been engaged to work together despite language differences to take care of the environments they share living in, e.g. tree planting, thereby connecting them in harmony with one another and with God the Creator and providing for the environment and communities in which they live.

Prior to this induction into Marquis Who's Who in 2022-2023, Dr. Fong has been recognized for her accomplishments with many other professional awards. For example, Dr. Fong was selected as an honored member of International Who's Who of Professionals for the years of 1997 and 1999 as a testament to her professional, academic and civic achievements. Dr. Fong was named to the International Woman of the Year by the International Biographical Center in Cambridge, England in 1998-1999 in recognition of her services to international social services and education. Dr. Fong was inducted into the American Biographical Institute's Five Hundred Leaders of Influence Hall of Fame for outstanding Business Accomplishments in 1999. Dr. Fong also won the ABI Twentieth Century Achievement Award for her career achievements and social contributions and was selected for permanent documentation in Five Hundred Leaders of Influence for biographical reference and inspiration for present-day citizens of the twentieth century as well as future generations, on permanent record at the U.S. Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., published in 1999.

She attributes her success to faith in God whose faithfulness and boundless divine guidance and provision has proven and affirms her belief in Him; that with Him nothing is impossible and He always has a way, even when there seems to be no way, if only we truly believe in Him and trust and obey and do the best you can.
