GRIMES, IA, February 23, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cynthia Pearl Letsch has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A leader in her field, Ms. Letsch is distinguished for 28 years of dedication to the legal profession. As an attorney with Letsch Law Firm, P.C., she has amassed extensive expertise in many areas of practice, specifically focusing on elder law including guardianships, conservatorships, asset protection trusts; and obtaining Medicaid benefits for seniors; full service estate planning including special needs planning, wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and powers of attorney; and post death issues such as probate and post death trust administration. Her deep knowledge of the law and commitment to involvement in her community has earned her several accolades, including a two-time recipient of Grimes Ambassador of the Year award; Iowa Living Magazine's Northwest Polk County Residents' Choice Award for Attorney, and Avvo's Clients' Choice and Top Attorney.
Ms. Letsch was not born to wealth or a highly educated family; she learned early in life that she could not rely on others to support her and that her future was hers to make. This mentality shaped her outlook on life and career, motivating her to work hard, exercise determination, and inevitably contributing to her success as a community leader, legal professional, and business entrepreneur. While she considers herself a self-made woman, Ms. Letsch credits her success to supportive family members and friends, colleagues, and clients that God has sent to assist her in her journey.
Ms. Letsch is highly respected for her legal expertise, which she has used as a practicing attorney and teacher throughout her career. Prior to reopening Letsch Law Firm P.C. in 2013, she initially opened her first general practice law firm in 1995, just after graduating from Drake University Law School. Following five years as a sole practitioner, she moved to On With Life, Inc. to serve as Corporate Counsel and Human Resource Director where she obtained her Certificate as a Senior Human Resource Professional. Following On With Life was a short stint as a labor and employment defense attorney for Berens and Tate, P.C. in Omaha. However, litigation did not fit with her personal mission and values of being helpful to people. This led to an opportunity to become a college teacher, something that Ms. Letsch has always aspired to do, but ended up taking a little different path.
Ms. Letsch was one of the pioneers in the infancy of what has become known as on-line education. She served as an adjunct college teacher for several different universities, developing and teaching undergrad, graduate, and post graduate classes in business law, employment and labor law, human resource management, and corporate compliance, and editing Human Resource and Business Law textbooks for Pearson Publishing and McGraw Hill Publishing. During this period of time she received her Certificate in Corporate Governance through Tulane University Law School.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey as an attorney, she was a licensed Worker's Compensation Adjustor, and entered college as a non-traditional student earing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Southern Methodist University, graduating cum laude with membership in Phi Beta Kappa and the National Honor Society.
Ms. Letsch is an accredited attorney for the Veteran's Administration and is admitted to practice law in the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri, and the Federal Southern District of Iowa and the Federal District of Nebraska. As a commitment to her profession, she is a member of the Iowa Bar Association Probate and Trust Section and Elder Law Section, the Missouri Bar Association Probate and Trust Section and Elder Law Section, the Nebraska Bar Association Probate and Trust Section and Elder Law Section, Polk County Bar Association, Dallas County Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Elder Counsel, Wealth Counsel, and a sponsored member of the Special Needs Alliance.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, and professional development, Ms. Letsch serves on the board of directors of the Grimes Storehouse (local food pantry) and was former Chair for the City of Grimes Board of Adjustments and President of the Grimes American Legion Auxiliary Post 577. She is an active member in the Grimes Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development and the American Business Women's Association.
Ms. Letsch has not abandoned her love of teaching and frequently teaches continuing education classes for attorneys, financial, and insurance professionals and is a frequent speaker for programs offered by the Alzheimer's Association, Parkinson's Foundation, Long-term Care Social Workers of Iowa, and a host of organizations that provide services to seniors. Looking toward the future, she strives to find a colleague whose values and ethics are a match for hers and eventually plans to turn the reins of daily activities over to a junior colleague so that she can focus on public service, public speaking, teaching, and writing.
