Alongside his work at Green River College, Dr. Banks is a non-law enforcement community representative with the Washington State Patrol and an educational consultant with the eponymous Jashon Banks Consulting, where he is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing curriculum plans and helping create and develop partnership arrangements as related to specific proposals.
During the early stages of his career, Dr. Banks gained valuable professional expertise with such institutions as Tacoma Community College, the U.S. Army, the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office, Hollister Co., and Saint Joseph's College of Indiana. Outside of his work, he contributes to his community through the Metropolitan Development Council, where he sits as vice chair of the board of directors. In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Banks aligns himself with Alpha Phi Sigma and Sigma Alpha Pi.
An expert in his field, Dr. Banks holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice with a minor in business administration from Saint Joseph's College. Subsequently, he received a Master of Science in criminal justice from Colorado Technical University and a PhD in criminal justice, law, and public policy from Walden University. Additionally, he received a graduate certificate in public administration and government management, a certification in grant proposal writing, a nonprofit administration certificate, and several certificates through the U.S. Army.
In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Banks earned Army Commendation Medals in 2014, 2015, and 2016, was inducted to the Alpha Phi Sigma The National Criminal Justice Honor Society at Walden University and received the Excellence in Higher Education Award from the Black Male Academic Achievement Conference. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in obtaining tenure after serving as a professor for seven years and being a father. Within the next five to ten years, Dr. Banks intends to run for Congress so that he can start making a change in the nation and ensure that everyone's voices are heard.
