Moreover, she has served on boards of food addiction organizations. Dr. Myers-Morrison works closely with teams hoping to make food addiction an integral aspect of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders/APA and the International Classification of Diseases/World Health Organization.
Dr. Myers-Morrison holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles and master's degrees in marriage, family therapy and special education. Additionally, she holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. During an earlier stage of her career, she worked as a school administrator, classroom teacher and as the English Specialist for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Moreover, she served as a marriage and family therapist. Passionate about genealogy, Dr. Myers-Morrison has served as NMSODAR secretary and Chair of the Volunteer Genealogists for the New Mexico Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Dr. Myers-Morrison derives her sense of achievement from the success of people with whom she has worked. Her devotion to her work stems from her primary goal of making abstinence from trigger foods, substances, and behaviors the standard option for treatment, as opposed to moderation, which does not work for addicts. In addition, she hopes to continue helping individuals find their personal, bio-individual triggers and make the necessary changes as they age. She also intends to continue advocating for the removal of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and sugar from the world's food supply to encourage better brain development in children. Additionally, Dr. Myers-Morrison now advocates for potential parents and donors to be at optimal weight and health prior to conception to change the world health outcomes. She also hopes to continue skiing, dancing, doing genograms and genealogy, completing her memoir, publishing poetry and children's books, and traveling with her beloved Peter, family, and friends.
