Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Roth earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural chemistry and a master's degree in soils, both from the University of Missouri. Following this achievement, he attained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin and completed post-doctoral coursework at Purdue University.
Accounting for his success, Dr. Roth credits his inquisitive nature as well as his desire to innovate in his field. Having grown up on a farm, his father was involved in soil research, which fed into Dr. Roth's interests in chemistry. He combined these passions throughout his career, passing his knowledge on to his students.
