With more than 20 years of excellence to his credit in education, Mr. Dakan found success as a professor. Now retired, he was an adjunct professor for the United States Navy with several overseas teaching assignments, and worked with the Continuation Detention School for the Clark County School District from 1989 to 2008. During his tenure, he focused his efforts on teaching United States history.
Mr. Dakan served honorably in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Dakan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Fort Lewis College in 1974. He then attained a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1989 and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies in 1996, both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He subsequently gained a Master of Arts in United States History from the same institution in 2013.
Within the coming years, Mr. Dakan intends to spend more time traveling and plans to resume teaching for the military. Although he originally intended to pursue further education in business administration and management, he found he had a passion for history, which married well with his affinity for remembering things and keeping organized.
