Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in biology from Drury University in 2000, Dr. Gruber expanded upon his knowledge, earning a Master of Science in Education and Human Resources from his alma mater in 2008. During his graduate studies, he entered the U.S. Army in 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Brigade Combat Team, which was the first surge brigade deployed in 2007 to Iraq. He completed numerous missions in Iraq between 2007 and 2008. In 2009, he commissioned as a Lieutenant and deployed to Afghanistan and in his new role, he oversaw transportation logistics and provided support to 14 forward operating bases in Kabul, Afghanistan. Subsequently, Dr. Gruber served his country honorably as an operations officer. In light of his service to the United States of America, he has been honored several times, earning a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart from the Department of the Army.
Before retiring from the U.S. Army in 2015, Dr. Gruber served as a platoon leader at Fort Carson, an assistant S3 at Fort Lee, and as a lieutenant and company commander in Afghanistan. In the years since his retirement, he has furthered his education through Northcentral University from which he graduated in 2022, with a 3.9 GPA with a PhD in education. He was inducted into multiple honor societies while a student at Northcentral University. They included the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), Golden Key Academy, and Kappa Delta Pi.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Gruber takes the most pride in being able to move vehicles that had been disabled during combat, and providing logistical support to soldiers, as well as support to the other branches of the military. Likewise, he is proud of his leadership skills, his ability to set an example for others, and his work as a teacher. Within the coming years, he intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career. Ultimately, Dr. Gruber aims to become a college professor and expand his family.
