Establishing his private practice firm in 2022, he represents clients as a full-service litigation and legislative consultant specializing in military and criminal defense. As a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Comley is passionate about representing individuals who have been wronged. Inspired by his brother, a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot, to pursue a career in the military, Mr. Comley served his country from 2002 to 2022. He began as a squadron fire support officer in the 1st Infantry Division before becoming an executive officer and platoon leader. He also served as a trial and defense counsel, rising through the ranks as an army judge advocate before retiring as the chief of justice of the U.S. Army V Corps at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During his tenure, Mr. Comley notably had the opportunity to represent the U.S. Army on Capitol Hill as a legislative counsel, among other accomplishments.
Apart from his military and legal background, Mr. Comley taught as an adjunct professor at Park University in 2014. Locally involved, he routinely volunteers with the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, and American Red Cross. Mr. Comley is also a member and volunteer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Comley graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2002 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in management with an emphasis in human resources and from Mississippi College School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, in 2009. He subsequently received a Master of Laws in military law at The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in 2016. Additional educational pursuits to Mr. Comley's credit include completing a staff officer's course via a U.S. Army Command and General Staff College satellite campus in 2018. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky, Mississippi, all Military Courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Comley is an active member of the Kentucky and Mississippi Bar Associations and is a member of the American Bar Association.
