Leveraging more than four decades of excellence in administrative and commercial law, Mr. Fannoush has earned distinction as a law expert in private practice. Since 2012, he has focused his efforts on providing his expertise in Libyan law for law firms going into arbitration, giving opinions, analyses and explanations of various laws as needed. He also keeps apprised of the current international legal field, reading international publications, law magazines and new cases as well as participating in conferences or workshops daily.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Fannoush began his career as a legal counsel and advisor for the Benghazi Municipality in Libya in 1974 and was the consul general for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 1980. He was promoted to an ambassador for the ministry in 1984 and excelled in this role until becoming the branch head of the Public Defenders Department in Benghazi in 1997. In 2003, he became the director general of the department, also serving as one of the first international judges on the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights from 2006 until 2010. He also was a judge for the Tripoli Court of Appeal from 2003 until 2012. To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Fannoush earned a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Benghazi in 1973.
