A former elected Republican State and Local Committeewoman for York County, she is currently a candidate (unopposed) for the York County Court of Common Pleas. Previously, Ms. Margetas worked as an assistant district attorney for the Adams County District Attorney's Office and as a senior and chief deputy prosecutor for the York County District Attorney's Office, where she gained valuable expertise in homicide, child abuse, and domestic violence cases.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Margetas served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas G. Saylor of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, as well a deputy attorney general for the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, where she gained a great deal of experience in criminal appeals, including obtaining affirmance of numerous death penalty convictions. Ms. Margetas also dedicates herself to her community as a member of the board of directors of the York Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Foundation for the West York Area School District.
Ms. Margetas earned a Bachelor of Arts in politics with minors in history and business administration from Ursinus College in 1999. Subsequently, she received her juris doctor from the Dickinson School of Law of the Penn State University. Ms. Margetas is an active member of the York County Bar Association, the Herbert B. Cohen American Inn of Court, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. In light of her outstanding scholarship and accomplishments, Ms. Margetas was inducted into the Woolsack Honor Society during law school and received the Attorney General's Award for Excellence from the Honorable Thomas W. Corbett, Jr, in 2010.
