Since 2022, he has focused his efforts on overseeing a team of protein and antibody engineers specializing in therapeutic antibody research and optimization utilizing computational molecular design approaches to meet client specifications. The team also generates advanced biotherapeutics. Prior to his current role, Dr. D'Angelo served as a postdoctoral research fellow for the University of British Columbia in 2004 and was a research associate for structural biology and crystallography beamline at the Canadian Light Source Inc. in 2008. He subsequently worked as a scientist in protein and antibody engineering for Zymeworks, Inc (Vancouver BC, Canada) in 2009, earning a promotion to a senior scientist in 2011. Following this time, he was a senior scientist and team lead for antibody engineering at Amgen in 2016 in Vancouver BC and subsequently Thousand Oaks, CA. He continued his career as an associate director for the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research in 2020 before joining Just-Evotec Biotherapeutics in Seattle, WA as Scientific Director in 2022.

He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Novara in Italy and is regularly visiting professor at the Technical University of Northwestern Switzerland in Basel and the University of Pavia in Italy.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. D'Angelo earned a Master of Science in biological sciences from the University of Pavia in Italy in 2000. Following this achievement, he attained a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry, molecular and structural biology from Heidelberg University in 2004. He was also admitted as a fellow to the Michael Smith Foundation of Health Research and received several ISU Awards from the University of Pavia.
