Stationed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Ms. Edmond worked as an aeromedical nurse practitioner responsible for occupational health and advocating for those who suffered occupational injuries or illnesses.
Before the inception of MariCare Wellness, Ms. Edmond's journey in health care was marked by a wealth of experience in various roles and specialties. Her career began as an aerospace medical service journeyman with the D.C. Air National Guard from 2001 to 2008. Transitioning to civilian positions, she worked as a cardiac intensive care unit nurse from 2008 to 2014 at Children's National Medical Center, then as a federal occupational health nurse with Federal Occupational Health between 2010 and 2013. Ms. Edmond also found success as a registered nurse with Kaiser Permanente, Fastaff Travel Nursing, and Nurses Etc. Staffing, followed by the role of a PICU registered nurse at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. More recently, she worked as a nurse practitioner at Metro Spine Pain Centers LLC, showcasing her extensive expertise and competence.
Ms. Edmond's academic background laid the foundation for her successful career. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2008 and a Master of Science as a family nurse practitioner at Drexel University in 2016. During her years at Drexel, she also obtained a certificate in forensic trends and issues in contemporary health care. Additional educational pursuits to Ms. Edmond's credit include family nurse practitioner board certification and certified holistic health practitioner designation.
In addition to her professional contributions, Ms. Edmond has been an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the Nurse Practitioner Association of the District of Columbia and the American Nurses Association. She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Beyond these endeavors, Ms. Edmond is deeply committed to advocacy, where she has been recognized for her skills and strength in advocating for better patient care and broader health policy issues.
