Drawing on 50 years of service to both the community and private clients, Mr. Jackson has led a life dedicated to safety and security. He currently serves as president of Solutions on Safety Inc (S.O.S), which specializes in addressing a wide range of security challenges encountered by both public and private entities. S.O.S. identifies tailored protection enhancements and implements effective crime prevention strategies to establish a robust security framework.
Mr. Jackson's career in law enforcement began when he accepted a dare to take the police exam at the age of 21. He took that dare — and passed — becoming a patrolman in 1973. He steadily climbed the ranks, later transitioning into specialized units and undercover operations. He made significant contributions within the department's strike force, where he played a key role in apprehending felons. After being promoted to sergeant and assigned to the Internal Affairs unit and later promoted to lieutenant, Mr. Jackson was assigned to Cleveland's 6th district for a year before being appointed as the commander of the 5th district, overseeing 180 officers. Then, a year later, he was reassigned to the 4th district as commander, overseeing 220 plus officers.
After a decorated 21-year career with the Cleveland Police Department, Mr. Jackson retired from the force and became the chief of police for the Cuyahoga Metro Housing Authority (CMHA) in the Cleveland area. During his tenure there, he spearheaded the relocation of the department to a state-of-the-art police headquarters; Mr. Jackson obtained National Law Enforcement Accreditation from CALEA to become the second Police Department in Cuyahoga County and second in the nation for Housing Authority Police Departments. He also garnered numerous awards and accolades from the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, and various community organizations. After more than a decade of service with CMHA, he transitioned to Cuyahoga Community College as its interim director of the Public Safety Institute. While there, Mr. Jackson helped bring about the creation of a regional training facility, catering to the needs of police, fire, and security personnel. He was eventually promoted to Executive Director, Emergency Management Fire and Safety Systems.
Mr. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice and law enforcement administration from David N. Myers University in Cleveland, and has earned numerous certifications in his field, including from the FBI's National Academy and its Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar program. To remain aware of developments in the field, he maintains his affiliation with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, the American Society for Industrial Security, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Mr. Jackson attributes his success to the values his father instilled in him. Outside of his professional efforts, his hobbies include traveling with his wife and flying remote-controlled airplanes.
