Dr. Renne, a distinguished critical care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, has dedicated the past decade to advancing medical critical care, surgical critical care, trauma critical care, and transplant critical care. Since 2020, he has supervised an intensive care unit of approximately 25 patients and mentored physician assistant students, medical students, nurses, nurse practitioners, residents, and fellows undergoing subspecialty training. Before his current role, Dr. Renne was a critical care clinical fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston from 2018 to 2020. During this period, he honed his skills in managing complex critical care cases and contributed to several research projects. From 2017 to 2018, he was the resident assistant medical director of UC Air Care & Mobile Care at the University of Cincinnati in the college of medicine. Concurrently, Dr. Renne was an emergency medicine physician at The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati. His early career included a residency in emergency medicine and a position as a flight physician at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center between 2014 and 2018.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Renne garnered a bachelor's degree in integrative human physiology from Vanderbilt University in 2010 and a Doctor of Medicine from The George Washington University in 2014. Subsequently, he completed his residency program in emergency medicine at the University of Cincinnati in 2018 and a fellowship in critical care at Harvard University in 2020. Dr. Renne also garnered board certification through the American Board of Emergency Medicine and advanced cardiac life support credentials.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Renne has been actively involved with professional and civic-minded organizations. Most notably, he is a member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He also served as crew chief and shift supervisor for Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Services from 2002 to 2017. Moreover, Dr. Renne has contributed several scholarly articles in his field to the Journal of Emergency Medicine and the Journal of Surgical Research, reflecting his ongoing commitment to research and disseminating his findings to advance his medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Renne has received several accolades for his work in the field, including a Fairfield County Hero Award, Explorer of the Year Award, EMT of the Year Award, and Call of the Year from Westport EMS between 2005 and 2010 and a PGY-4 Teaching Award from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 2018. His dedication to volunteer service earned him several honors, including the President of the U.S. Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
Dr. Renne attributes his success to the unwavering support of his family and an upbringing that instilled a strong sense of purpose and determination.
