He has served in this position for over 15 years and, prior to that, as a planning commissioner for nearly three years. Mr. McDonald's academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering from Western Kentucky University in 1979, a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University in 1985, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2002. He was also admitted, in 2002, by the Minnesota Supreme Court to the practice of law within Minnesota.
Affiliated as a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Mr. McDonald enjoys networking and remaining abreast in his industry. He has also made significant contributions to his community as the board chair of SouthWest Transit and as a past member of the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce. Furthermore, Mr. McDonald was previously involved with Rotary International, frequently portraying Santa Claus for the Rotary Club of Chanhassen and participating in Breakfast with Santa events alongside his wife, who played Mrs. Claus.
In light of his civic commitments, the Rotary Club of Chanhassen honored Mr. McDonald in 2022 with a Distinguished Citizen Award, recognizing his extensive contributions to the community.
