Inspired by her mother's helpful nature and her uncles' work as police officers and service in the military, Chief Hill's passion for criminal justice was ignited early on and further nurtured through hands-on experience. After undergoing a formative internship in her youth, she discovered her passion and was motivated to pursue a career in the field. As a result of her love for criminal justice, she earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1995. Not only did Chief Hill's degree equip her with the theoretical knowledge necessary for her field but also instilled in her a deep sense of duty toward public service.
In all she has pursued and achieved, Chief Hill cites her mother's love and unwavering support as being a constant source of inspiration for her throughout her journey, guiding her toward achieving remarkable success in her field while staying grounded in her values. Outside of her professional and civic engagements, Chief Hill enjoys traveling and is known for her compassion toward animals, often rescuing cats and dogs in need. Looking forward, she hopes to retire as chief of police to focus more intently on her role as executive director of public safety at both the police department and police academy. Specifically, she aims to increase the diversity within law enforcement by recruiting more minority officers.
