In 2007, as a new member of the Bar, Mr. Egli went before the Tennessee Senate Judiciary Committee, highlighting the fact that the Tennessee Judiciary was experiencing significant problems with a litigant's due process right to pursue the removal of a judge which has an actual conflict or an appearance of impropriety. This Senate Judiciary hearing in which other members of the Tennessee Bar, as well as Tennessee residents who were in litigation with a judge refusing to recuse from the case despite an actual conflict or an appearance of impropriety testified was instrumental in changing the laws surrounding the recusal of a judge in Tennessee, as well as the disbandment of the Tennessee Court of the Judiciary which was not disciplining Tennessee judges who had clearly violated their judicial canons. Mr. Egli is a strong advocate and spends a great deal of his time ensuring that the judicial remains an unbiased system for litigants to seek relief from an issue Mr. Egli sees becoming worse recently.
Before founding his private practice law firm, Mr. Egli served as outside general counsel for EmeraChem LLC in Knoxville from 2008 to 2010, where he was instrumental in navigating complex legal landscapes and contributing to the company's success through strategic legal guidance working with other Companies, such as 3M, drafting complex licensing contracts involving catalysis technology. He also obtained valuable trial advocacy, thereby honing legal skills right out of law school at the Law Offices of John D. Lockridge, Jr. in Knoxville from 2005 to 2006. This position allowed Mr. Egli to develop his litigation and legal analysis expertise, setting a solid foundation for his future endeavors in the legal field.
One of the most impactful moments in Mr. Egli's career was filing a civil rights case in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Miller v. Cocke County, Tennessee, United States District Court Eastern Section of Tennessee, 3:19-cv-308. Through his diligent efforts, he secured a nearly seven-figure settlement for a client who had suffered severe injuries due to a corrections officer's misconduct, thereby ensuring justice was served and the client's civil rights upheld by the District Court. Mr. Egli's journey toward a successful legal career began with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and an associate degree in political science from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1999. He further honed his skills and knowledge by earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Appalachian School of Law in 2004. While in law school, Mr. Egli made significant contributions as an associate editor for the ASL Law Review, showcasing his dedication to the field.
Additionally, he was admitted to practice by the Tennessee Bar Association, the Tennessee Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
