She is known for conducting wellness seminars on health, nutrition, physical fitness, and the National Wellness Institute's "Six Dimensions of Wellness" including emotional, occupational, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual. With a background in dance and over 10 years of experience as a dancer, she organizes summer camps and after-school programs for children, focusing on dance-related activities. Her work spans all age groups, from toddlers to senior citizens, with a particular affinity for working with older adults.
Prior to her current role, Mrs. Jenkins was a recreation specialist at the Akron Recreation Bureau from 2021 to 2023. During this time, she also served as a group fitness and recreation coordinator at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Akron General from 2021 to 2022.
Mrs. Jenkins maintains an active involvement in various grant-funded projects that promote healthy eating and active living within the community. She has successfully established community gardens at food pantries, cultivated numerous herbs and vegetables, and created recipe cards for each item. Her efforts extend to visiting preschool and kindergarten classes to advocate for better nutrition and exercise among young children.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Mrs. Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Science in public and community health from Georgia Southern University in 2018. She holds several certifications that underscore her commitment to health education and wellness, including a Certified Health Education Specialist from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing and a Certified Wellness Practitioner from the National Wellness Institute.
A volunteer within her local community, Mrs. Jenkins serves as a volunteer ambassador for the National Recreation and Park Association. She also served as the Northeast district representative for the Ohio Society of Public Health Education (Ohio SOPHE), and a member of the Physical Activity Policy Research and Evaluation Network.
Outside of her career efforts, Mrs. Jenkins enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, paddleboarding, and kayaking. She is also an avid reader. Additionally, she has expressed an interest in focusing on prenatal and postpartum fitness and nutrition. Having conducted extensive research on these topics, she aims to specialize in the promotion of healthy eating and active living for mothers during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Mrs. Jenkins also has a passion for public speaking and enjoys speaking at conferences. She hopes to harness this interest by finding additional opportunities to speak about health and wellness.
