Since obtaining the role in 2021, Dr. Saelens has also managed the day to day operations of the district and opened the first healthcare center for employees in the State.
Dr. Saelens' dedication to her community is evident in her involvement with various organizations. She is a member of The Eastern Shore of Maryland Educational Consortium, Leadership Maryland, and the Public Schools Superintendents' Association of Maryland. In addition, she actively contributes to her community through her participation in Hope Ministries and the local chapter of Rotary International, demonstrating her commitment to public service.
Given her professional achievements, Dr. Saelens was honored by Women to Watch for her dedication and excellence in education. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in being honored as the Superintendent of the Year Award by AASA, the School Superintendent Association in 2023, creating programs for students that met their needs, building a new school and a central office, and watching her students become successful.
